Today’s Countdown post is about an Event!
My husband, Ed Gaffney, is speaking tonight at the Sarasota Fiction Writers’ monthly meeting, and I’m inviting you all to come! (Well, okay, those of you who live on the west coast of Florida, within driving range of Sarasota.)
Here are the deets about the event, from Ed’s Facebook post:
I’ll be speaking tonight at this month’s meeting of the Sarasota Fiction Writers at Selby Library, 1331 1st Street, Sarasota. The meeting starts at 6pm and runs to 7:30pm (ET). I’ll be talking about making the transition from writing novels to writing screenplays and television scripts. It’s open to the public, there will be a raffle, and I’ll be bringing fleece blankets and thinking about how happy I am that I’m not in North Dakota.
I’ll be in the audience, so come and sit next to me!
I’ll also take pictures with my phone and — if I’m inspired, I might even live-tweet the event! Follow me on twitter @SuzBrockmann
And don’t forget, this Thursday evening, January 9th, I’ll be hosting a chat, right here on the comments section of this, my blog page! (For those of you who can’t make tonight’s trip to Sarasota!)

Just finished the article about the difference between clusterf and goatf. I may be wrong, but I believe the difference is a subtle sense of numbers. I don’t speak Seal, but I speak fluent Southern Country, so a New Englander might not see it this way. It’s basically the same as the difference between “You” or “Ya,” “Y’all,” and “All Y’all.” If I’m speaking to one person, it is, “How ya doin’?” For a small group, such as family or friends, it’s “Y’all be careful, now.” And if I’m speaking to a larger group, such as a class or club, it would be “All y’all listen up!” The line is fuzzy. If my comment to one person also refers to others like him, I may use “Y’all,” and there is no precise number where Y’all becomes All Y’all. This definition is wasted on New Jerseyites, where plural means “Youse Guyz.”
So You is singular; Y’all is plural, and All Y’all is REAL plural. Just ask Sam.
Thus, I believe that a Goatf could be as small as one, if that one is the goat, or has been set up by the goat. A Clusterf, by using cluster, must therefore be a larger group, although, again, the line is fuzzy.
Brilliant analysis! I love it! Thanks so much for your input!
Apologies! I tried to live-tweet Ed’s presentation, but I had no cell phone bars in the library! 🙁
But it was fun! (And great!)
